Finance - Finance & Operations Analyst (Cedar Rapids, IA - Hybrid)
  

Position Summary

The Finance & Operations Analyst – GPSG is responsible for evaluating the financial and operational implications of the business unit’s operating strategy.  Accountable for monitoring and driving profitability initiatives as well as providing planning and support to meet the business unit’s overall performance targets.  Accountable for the development and monitoring of key performance indicators, as well as assisting in the evaluation of efficiency and automation strategies.  Work closely with GPSG leadership to use a framework that cultivates the behaviors of an operational excellence mindset across the GPSG business unit, to ultimately recommend and implement broader improvement initiatives.

 

General Essential Functions

  • Provide financial advice and counsel on operating initiatives to business unit’s leadership team, leading certain aspects
  • Assist with preparation of financial and operational performance results for Senior Leadership, PSG Leadership and Employees
  • Participate in GPSG leadership team prioritization meetings

     

    Financial Analysis Functions

  • A key leader in development of the business unit’s operating and financial strategies
  • Make recommendations to leadership regarding profitability improvement strategies
  • Lead development of the business unit’s financial models to forecast operating results. Models would include annual budget and longer term (i.e. 5year) financial plan
  • Contribute to other key areas of the business unit which have significant financial implications such as pricing, compensation plans, staffing levels, etc
  • Monitor and analyze client and segment profitability and provide suggestions and details for improvement by client and/or segment
  • Performs ad hoc analysis to evaluate financial issues and prepares recommendations for policy, procedure, control, or action based on results of analysis.

     

    Operational Analysis Functions

  • Responsible for the development and monitoring of key performance indicators as well as assisting in the evaluation of efficiency and automation initiatives. As part of this process, the analyst should review benchmarking comparisons within the industry and beyond
  • Continuously analyze the performance of the business unit and platform partnerships, identifying areas of opportunity, areas with positive and negative trends, and areas of targeted improvement. Once identified, work with the business unit’s leadership team or platform leadership to develop and implement actionable plans
  • Serve as the interface between GPSG and the Data Analytics and Insights team to ensure proper support and best practices.
  • Assist business unit leadership to review new and unique clients and services, ensuring financial implications are evaluated, and operational efficiencies and quality controls are identified, communicated, and properly integrated
  • Serve as a key resource for the business unit on accounting platform knowledge. Provide valuable insight to the business unit regarding platform’s capabilities when evaluating new and current client requests
  • Provide operational assistance with client portfolio onboardings. Ensuring appropriate processes are implemented to address client needs.
  • Key leader in the development and promotion of operational metrics to assist the business unit leaders in evaluating operational performance and staffing needs
  • Work with GPSG leadership team to build culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence
  • Proactively promote and participate in process improvement and quality control management initiatives within the business unit
  • Participate in quality review meetings while assisting PSG leadership with the creation and monitoring of quality assurance reporting in order to meet servicing standards and client expectations
  • Supports daily operations flow by addressing escalated and unique operational issues and exception requests
  • Perform other duties as required

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field. MBA is a plus

 

Experience: 5-7 years of finance and accounting experience in providing business advice and analyzing business performance

 

Skills and Abilities

 

Computer Skills: Excel, PowerPoint, Word; SQL a plus

 

Other Requirements: Must have exceptional analytical and problem solving skills.  Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and possess outstanding computer skills.  Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.  Must be an organized, creative, team-player with initiative who responds well to challenges.  Must be able to work with limited direction and be self-sufficient.  Role will likely include periodic large project oriented demands with tight deadlines requiring more than standard work hours and the need to respond quickly. Must demonstrate sound business judgment.
