About this position:

 

We are seeking an accountant to join our team! At GreatAmerica you will be able see your impact on the company and the overall big picture. We are looking for this candidate to come in and drive change and have ability to make immediate impact.

 

In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that generally accepted accounting principles are followed in the preparation and presentation of financial reports as well as providing reporting to certain GreatAmerica customers.

 

Essential Functions                                               

 

  • Develop fundamentals of accounting and financial reporting

  • Learn and understand the business (key operation drivers, accounting issues, and processes).
  • Understand the accounting impact of relevant transactions and documents to ensure compliance with GAAP.
  •  

  • Prepare general ledger account reconciliations.
  • Assist in month and year-end closing.
  • Prepare and audit recurring operational reports.

  • Prepare monthly and annual financial statement analysis to ensure financial statements are accurate.
  •  

  • Prepare accounting reports for special purpose entities.
  • Perform technical accounting research.

  • Active participant in advancing the Team’s strategic initiatives.
  • Assist with the annual financial statement audit.
  • Lives the GreatAmerica principles; involved in cross functional team efforts as assigned and required.
  • Proactively promote and participate in process improvement initiatives.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  •  

  • Provide an outstanding GreatAmerica experience to all customers.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.  CPA, MBA, or other related advanced degrees and certifications a plus.

 

Experience: New college graduate to 1-3 years accounting, treasury, and/or finance experience

 

 

Skills and Abilities

 

Computer Skills: Excel, PowerPoint, Word

 

Other Requirements: Must have exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.  Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and possess outstanding computer skills.  Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.  Role will likely include periodic large project-oriented demands with tight deadlines requiring more than standard work hours and the need to respond quickly. Must be an organized, creative team-player with initiative who responds well to challenges.  Must demonstrate sound business judgment.
