Operations - Invoicing Operations Leader (Cedar Rapids, IA)

Position Summary


As an integral member of the Billing & Invoicing Domain leadership team, the Invoicing Operations Leader is responsible for the effective design, delivery, and evolution of the people, processes and systems leveraged within the invoicing business capability (which encompasses the workflow associated with the format, creation and presentment of invoicing.)  This role provides ongoing leadership, development, and operational management to the Invoicing Solutions team and members within. This role will work closely with domain and business unit leadership to understand, prioritize and evolve/create invoicing capabilities to meet the needs of GreatAmerica’s customers both now and in the future.  There are four primary functions associated with this role:


  • Business Capability Ownership and Accountability (10% allocation of time):
    • Ensure clear definitions for all sub-capabilities within Business Capability are created and maintained
    • Understand Domain RACI diagram and contribute to the ongoing maintenance
    • Lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure business value realization is achieved through the Business Capability. Where value is not being achieved, develop plan for change


  • Forward-Looking Business Capability Evolution (40% allocation of time):
    • Provide strong leadership with the ability to provide vision and structure for the Business Capability
    • Translate domain strategy into capabilities, including people, process and technology. Understand current enterprise operating model and capabilities, including which sub-capabilities are differentiating or not differentiating in alignment with the strategic identity. Contribute to the creation and maintenance of a multiyear domain capability roadmap for future needs and investments in alignment with strategic plans
    • Contribute to the planning and implementation of talent acquisition strategy based on the forward-looking needs of the Business Capability
    • Stay abreast of changes within in the industry by reading articles, talking with customers, attending industry conferences, etc.
    • Contribute to the creation of visionary goals for the Domain and apply to specific Business Capability to create clear and compelling picture of the future
    • Research and collaborate with key stakeholders to identify sub-capability needs, enhancements and integrations, including customer improvement, new market opportunities and requested enterprise capabilities
    • Proactively gather and understand business needs and requirements across the enterprise and with external stakeholders to ensure platforms and solutions will support and thrive with new and existing business capabilities and integrations
    • Work in tandem with Domain leader on the development of sub-capability requirements in partnership with business stakeholders
    • Engage and communicate with business stakeholders and team members on the progress of initiatives within the capability of work and product roadmap so their feedback is incorporated as part of planning
    • Responsible for driving towards the Domain and Company vision by successfully delivering strategic initiatives through completion of quality deliverables
    • Aptitude to work in a mode of continual improvement and prioritize work by greatest needs to organization
    • Participate in Idea Forum for Domain, ensuring both business and non-business ideas are carefully analyzed


  • Business Capability Leadership (15% allocation of time):
    • Must have strong aptitude for mentoring team members and developing future leaders.Actively develop high-potential team members
    • Set clear expectations for frontline team members and ensure accountability for meeting objectives
    • Provide visibility to all work streams across initiatives to stakeholders including regular updates to Domain and business unit leadership


  • Business Capability Execution Accountability (35% of time):
    • Accountable for operational efficiency, effectiveness and risk management within Business Capability
    • Ensure people, processes, and systems are in place to meet the customer needs
    • Supports daily operations flow by addressing escalated and unique operational issues and exception requests
    • Develop, monitor, and report upon key performance indicators for the Business Capability and underlying sub-capabilities
    • In collaboration with fellow Business Capability leaders, maintains strong relationships with our business support and other partners and ensures performance meets GreatAmerica’s service level standards
    • Coordinates with Business Unit Operational Leaders and fellow policy owners to formulate, review, modify, deploy and oversee the execution of appropriate operational policies and procedures

This role will apply proven communication, analytical and problem-solving skills. This role requires a person that is a self-directed with strong communication, analytical, influential leadership, collaboration and problem solving skills.

    • Vet potential new market, industry and/or product/solution opportunities for GreatAmerica, based on external trends
    • Work closely with the leadership to understand new opportunities of potential interest which require research, risk evaluation and/or program structuring

Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent is preferred.
