Enterprise Technology - Advanced Salesforce Administrator (Des Moines, IA or Cedar Rapids, IA - Hybrid)

We are looking to add a Key Member to our Enterprise Technology Group!

As a member of the Application Support team, this role will be expected to ensure GreatAmerica leverages Salesforce as a key platform for many of its business processes.  He/She will be an owner of the platform, meaning he/she will understand the capabilities of the software, understand the business and connect the necessary dots to achieve business goals.  Additionally, this role may be an owner of other applications in a specified domain(s).

Essential Functions

  • Take all perspectives into account for Salesforce platform and environments of GreatAmerica
  • Design and execute the overall solution focusing on, but not limited to, Salesforce for the assigned projects and ensure quality of solution architecture.
  • Work closely with Solution Architect, Software Architects, and Developers to ensure the solution follows best practices and architectural tenants established for the Salesforce platform and each solution is achieved as designed.
  •  Work with Business teams, Technology Program Managers, Solution Architect, Enterprise Architect and Strategic Technology Group to review business drivers, needs, and strategies and understand implications to the Salesforce platform, environments and applications architecture.
  • Provide documentation, training, consulting and insights on Salesforce best practices, trends and upcoming features to GreatAmerica teams
  • Configure objects, custom objects, page layouts and fields using Salesforce best practices
  • Work with advanced formula, validation and picklist
  • Strategize security and permission models
  • Provide day-to-day operational administration on Salesforce platform, environments and applications; activities include but not limited to upgrades, health and stability maintenance, performance tuning, managing users, cleansing and auditing data, monitoring events and taking appropriate actions, managing advanced security, optimizing the usage of the platform, environments and applications, deploying and maintaining Apex, Visualforce codes, build complex reports, dashboards, process automation, workflows and other advanced admin capabilities
  • Proficient in troubleshooting applications and data issues
  • Optimize and extend applications
  • Have advanced understanding of Salesforce APIs and SOQL
  • Provide mentorship to other Salesforce admins.
  • Respond to phone calls and email requests for technical support as needed
  •  Prioritize and complete tasks to meet customer SLAs
  • Administer Salesforce licenses and usage
  • Lives the GreatAmerica principles; involved in cross functional team efforts as required and assigned.
  • Read communication styles of customers, project team, and contractors who come from a broad spectrum of disciplines and tailor communication to fit.
  • Facilitate relations between business groups and technology teams.
  • Candidates must possess the exceptional interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with internal& external resources, clients, and third parties.
  • Candidates can be relied upon to manage key relationships with internal & external resources, clients, and third parties.
  • Work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment and excels at communicating shifts in prioritization.
  • Adapt to shifting business priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Willing and be able to travel to conferences, training and other skill development opportunities
  • Extended hours may be required to meet deadlines
  • Performs additional duties as required
  • While this position may be focused on Salesforce Advanced Admin activities, there will be other application support activities in a given business capability domain (70%-30%)


Position Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree required in Information Systems or equivalent. Advanced Salesforce Admin certification.       

Experience: Minimum of 5 years of practical work with Salesforce platform experience required. Experience in consultative approach to both technical and business audience. Experience communicating applications solutions and strategies as well as implications to both technical and non-technical teams, as well as leadership. Require deep analytical understanding of Salesforce. Understanding of Software Development Life Cycle, data modeling and cloud-based environments. Agile approach experience preferred.

Computer Skills: Expert knowledge of MS Office products and Design & Development best practices preferred
