Operations - Business Architect - Billing & Invoicing (Cedar Rapids, IA, Hybrid)

Position Summary

GreatAmerica is seeking a skilled and driven Business Architect who is passionate about building partnerships, guiding value to satisfy and elevate our organizational purpose, and driving actions and deliverables to ensure successful outcomes for our employees and customers. As a member of the Product Management team, the Business Architect acts as a bridge between business and technology teams, develops capability maps and other artifacts, helps in the operationalization of strategy, and assists in the technology enablement of core capabilities and value streams.


Essential Functions

  • Partner with Product Owner to facilitate the intake process and with the Capability Owners in the creation of business- and technology-enabled Ideas (innovation opportunities), including assisting the development of business cases and valuation statements
  • Create actionable and diagnostic artifacts such as business capability models, process and value stream maps, and Customer and User persona definitions to help Product Management team make informed investment decisions 
  • Partner with Product Management team to align requirements/backlog to capabilities, near- and long-term needs, and strategic roadmap
  • Partner with solution architects and technical architects to map systems and services to capabilities, near- and long-term needs and strategic roadmap
  • Define interdependencies across capabilities to ensure the upstream and downstream models align 
  • Assess competitive threats and opportunities by identifying emerging industry and technology trends that potentially impact the organization and propose change to address them
  • Drive adoption of existing and new capabilities and supporting technology within the organization
  • Provide consultancy services to Product Management, Architecture and Delivery teams to offer recommendations 
  • Participate in architectural governance process by providing input on standards, providing business requirements and business process flows, and identifying stakeholders and associated impacts

Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, information systems, a related study, or equivalent experience; M.B.A. preferred. 

Experience: 8+ years of business experience with responsibility for strategy formulation and/or translation, business analytics, business analysis, and/or business strategy and processes. Management experience in any of the following areas:  business transformation or optimization, strategic planning, roadmap development, leadership, business relationship management or business process management. Experience collaborating across multi-disciplined teams.  Experience in Financial Services industry is ideal, but not required.

  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office productivity suite 
  • Knowledge of ServiceNow and Jira preferred 
  • Understanding of core software applications (Salesforce, Epicor, InfoLease, integration services) is desirable
