About this position:

This position is responsible for translating business strategy into solution architecture, leading solution design and analysis, and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver solutions that align business outcome.

Essential Functions

  • Translate business drivers and capabilities (current/future) into enterprise system designs
  • Lead evaluation, design and analysis for the implementation of a solution architecture across business applications and/or technologies
  • Translate business and technical requirements into an architectural roadmap, across products, services, projects and systems
  • Provide reference models and architectures to assist in the assessment of impact of new/ongoing technology investments
  • Act as consultant for broad range of solutions; consult on Idea Forums and projects 
  • Develop and manage the architecture for products and projects, with consideration of the intended future state
  • Lead analysis of current technology environment to detect critical deficiencies, legacy and technical debt, and recommend solutions for improvement
  • Document solution architecture and analysis, including detailed level design
  • Lead technology evaluations and selections for new and end of life solution decisions to procure/maintain/refresh/retire products, services or systems
  • Identify organizational impact (skills, processes, structures, culture, systems) and financial impact of solution architecture options
  • Develop a roadmap of the enterprise application portfolio
  • Provide consulting support to Domain Leaders, Product Team leaders, architects, program/project managers, IT leaders and team members
  • Work with Solution Delivery team to ensure the delivered solutions align the intended designs
  • Facilitate the evaluation, proof-of-concept, and selection of software product standards and services
  • Live the GreatAmerica principles; involved in cross functional team efforts as required and assigned.
  • Extended hours may be required to meet deadlines
  • Perform additional duties as required

Education: Bachelor’s degree required in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or related area.

Experience:

  • Minimum 10-15 years of experience in design and implementation in multiple IT practice areas (Infrastructure, Application Development, Integration, Data Management, Others)
  • 8+ years of solution architecture experience in developing architecture and design documents and roadmaps
  • 5+ years of experience facilitating and leading work sessions to produce related technical design documents and deliverables for large complex projects.
  • Extensive exposure to multiple technical architecture approaches
  • Strong understanding of product vs. project delivery approaches
  • Deep analytical understanding of technology design patterns
  • Agile/Iterative mindset and proven track of practice
  • Fluent in creating flowcharts, wireframes, and/or other system artifacts and system design tools
  • Knowledge of enterprise, solution architecture and agile delivery frameworks (FEA, TOGAF, SaFe)
  • Need to be able to drive and manage change

Computer Skills: Expert knowledge of MS Office products and Design & Development best practices preferred
