Position Summary:

The Position of Tax Accountant is responsible for ensuring that GreatAmerica is in compliance with federal, state and local laws pertaining to sales/use, property, and/or income/franchise taxes and their equivalents.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Gather, compile, and analyze information to support tax reporting and identify issues that require resolution
  • Develop, modify and effectively complete complex spreadsheets/worksheets for compliance, advisory projects, and audits by federal, state, provincial, and local taxing authorities
  • Complete reconciliations of tax accounts; identify and resolve issues within general ledger tax accounts
  • Research tax laws and analyze application to business operations for compliance in all areas of tax
  • Resolve straightforward and complex tax technical issues for completeness, accuracy and correct application to operations
  • Complete various tasks related to onboarding and administration of third party portfolio servicing clients with respect to sales and/or property tax
  • Prepare analysis and quantification of tax positions for review by leadership
  • Assist with analysis and quantification of tax implications of business decisions being considered by the company
  • Compile and reconcile billing information related to taxes paid and service performed for identified lessors
  • Prepare accurate and timely simple and complex tax returns with limited guidance
  • Accurately pay all taxes within established timelines;

Education : Bachelor degree in Accounting

 

Experience: 2-4 years experience in Tax and/or Auditing preferred

 

 

Skills and Abilities

 

Computer Skills: Experience with:  Microsoft Office (including Microsoft Excel Skills), research software (RIA, CCH) preferred, tax preparation software (Sales, PPTX,  Income tax) preferred

 

Other Requirements: This individual should proactively look for areas where taxes can and do impact the core business process of GreatAmerica and look for ways to improve in those areas.
