Position Summary

 

The Senior Accountant is responsible for ensuring that generally accepted accounting principles are followed in the preparation and presentation of financial reports and will work closely with Finance leadership in all facets of the accounting function.

 

There is currently one opening in the department. The candidate hired will be hired as an Accountant II or Senior Accountant, based upon qualifications, skills, and organizational needs.

 

Essential Functions

 

  • Analyzes, researches and concludes on new and proposed accounting, reporting and disclosure standards issued by the FASB and prepare memorandums regarding the Company’s position and impact on the Company.
  • Prepare monthly and annual financial statement analysis to ensure financial statements are accurate.
  • Acts as liaison between Finance and Accounting Teams, working to ensure that finance initiatives are well aligned with accounting initiatives and processes.
  • Take an active role in advancing the Team’s strategic initiatives.
  • Assist with annual budget process.
  • Serve as a partner to other areas of the Company, providing accounting and financial support, allowing them to make good financial decisions.
  • Assist finance leaders with the annual financial statement audit.
  • Work closely with other areas of Finance to ensure reconciliations are being done timely and properly.
  • Review work of Accounting Team members as needed.
  • Assist the finance leaders with ad-hoc projects as necessary.
  • Provide mentorship to the Accounting Team members.
  • Provide an outstanding GreatAmerica experience to all customers.

Education: BA/BS in Accounting and CPA designation is preferred.

 

Experience: Five years relevant experience required.  Public accounting experience is beneficial.

 

 

Skills and Abilities: Codification research experience preferred.

 

Computer Skills: Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficient with other Microsoft Office applications required.
